Welcome to Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy. Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy is an award-winning, family-run, independent theatre academy in Gosfield, Essex for children and young adults aged 3 to 18 years. Sessions are held Saturdays 10.15am-1.15pm during term time with performing arts workshops during school holidays.

We are dedicated to developing performance skills, promoting self-expression, and building confidence. This enables children to unlock their hidden talents, overcome their shyness and increase their social skills. Whether your child simply enjoys singing, dancing and acting as a hobby or is hoping to pursue a career in performing arts we will help them lay the foundations to build upon.

The main academy has three age groups it is split into, the children move with their age group to each session. They complete 50 minutes of drama, 50 minutes of dance and 50 minutes of singing with a break in-between. In the summer the main academy perform a full production in a theatre which they work towards from earlier in the year, during the rehearsal period the main academy are brought together to work on relevant scenes.

For Mini’s

We provide engaging and skill-building musical sessions for children aged 3-4 and 5-6 on Saturday mornings 9am – 9.45am and 9am – 10.15am. The sessions encourage creative thinking, rhythmic timing and self-confidence using props to dance with to music. We explore different imaginary worlds broadening language skills and unlocking imaginations. At the end of each term an intimate showcase of learning is performed to parents only, allowing the young children to experience performing as a small show which helps build their confidence prior to treading the boards at the theatre in the main academy.
